This week on The Tight Rope, the professors are joined by Dr. Gina Paige, co-founder of African Ancestry. African Ancestry is the world leader in tracing lineages of African descent with a database of over 30,000 indigenous African DNA samples. Join us for a rich discussion on why Black people are the original victims of identity theft and how African Ancestry is working to rectify this.
In 2003, Dr. Gina Paige co-founded African Ancestry, Inc. (AfricanAncestry.com) and in doing so, pioneered a new way of tracing African lineages using genetics, and a new marketplace for people of African descent looking to more accurately and reliably trace their roots. Paige travels the world helping people demystify their roots and inform on identities so that they may better understand who they are by knowing where they’re from.
Paige resides in Washington, D.C. and holds a degree in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Paige was honored with an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy from Global Oved Dei Seminary University.

In April 2021, the country of Sierra Leone conferred citizenship to people of the African Diaspora with valid genetic ancestry test results. We understood our assignment and we helped several people reconnect with their ancestral homeland and people.

As an African-American, have you ever wondered where you actually come from in Africa?
About five years ago, I took a DNA test with another company, and they basically told me I'm from West Africa. Duh! It was a start to my journey because I had at least evidence of where to begin my heritage journey. At the top of the list was Nigeria, Cameroon followed by Ghana, Senegal, Benin, etc. Shortly after I took that test, I discovered @africanancestry and how they focus on determining which tribe you come from. This is the type of test I was looking for because the unwelcomed Europeans created the borders of the countries in Africa we know today during their savagery colonization of Africa. Each country in Africa has multiple tribes that speak different languages. Before I departed for West Africa in the spring, I took a maternal DNA test with African Ancestry. #throwbackthursday ➡️ The last day of the AA Family Reunion in Cameroon coincided with the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Transatlantic Slave Trade and Slavery on March 25th.
Our ancestor veneration ceremony was an opportunity to honor the Tikar, Bamileke, Ewondo, Masa, Mafa, Kotoko, Fulani and Hausa ancestors who involuntarily left the shores.
